Community Service Programs

Arts & Culture

The Club holds an Arts and Crafts Fair and Contest for club members and for the students at the five area schools, decorates the Windsor Community House for Christmas, and supports the art departments in the schools with monetary and in-kind donations.  The Arts & Culture Committee members also make homemade cards for local heroes.

Education & Libraries

The Woman’s Club of Windsor annually awards two Dot G. Gwaltney Scholarships to Windsor High School seniors who are planning on attending four-year colleges. The scholarship was named in memory of Dot G. Gwaltney, a lifetime member of the Woman’s Club and a devoted citizen of the Town of Windsor and Isle of Wight County. The committee is also responsible for the other scholarships the club provides.

Civic Engagement & Outreach

The Club supports the Western Tidewater Free Clinic, brings awareness to Child Abuse, collects funds for the American Heart Association, supports the Genieve Shelter, donates to Suffolk Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society, and others.  They have also provided backpacks to go home with hungry Windsor Elementary children every other Friday in partnership with the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia.  This committee also plans to identify and assist local citizens who need help with prescriptions, transportation, or household assistance due to an illness this year.

Environment

The Club holds a collection drive for local Animal Control and assists in raising funds for veterinary care.  The Club also participates in an Adopt-A-Highway project and currently holds clean-up days in the community.

Health & Wellness

The Health & Wellness Committee promotes healthy practices and encourages members to live their best lives. Currently, the committee offers a weekly walking group to members.
